Course Structure

Course Description- The Bachelor of Counselling (Honor’s) degree is designed to prepare students to become professional counsellors, equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to support individuals, families, and groups through various life challenges. This programme combines theoretical coursework with practical training, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for professional practice.

Course Training and Practical- Students will undergo a practicum and internship. The practicum will be in-house at our UoC Health & Psychology Clinic. Students will need to complete 252 hours to proceed to do their Internship. The hours are related to counselling practices, individual and group. As for Internship, students will need to apply to NGOs, hospitals, schools, companies, government offices, higher education institutions and health centers for their training practice in counselling. Students will need to be supervised by a practicing licensed and registered counsellor at the internship placement. Students will need to complete 510 hours of internship, which comprises individual, group, couple, and family counselling.

Entry Requirement

UoC Foundation in Arts or Science
Minimum of CGPA 2.00 in UoC’s Foundation in Arts or Foundation in Science.
Matriculation/Other Foundation
Matriculation or its equivalent, with a minimum CGPA of 2.00

STPM

A pass in STPM or its equivalent, with a minimum of Grade C (GPA 2.00) in any two (2) subjects

A-Level

A pass in A-Levels or its equivalent, with a minimum of Grade C (GPA 2.00) in any two (2) subjects

UEC

A pass in UEC with minimum Grade B in five (5) subjects
Diploma
A Diploma or its equivalent, with a minimum CGPA of 2.00
Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia (DKM)/DLKM

Pass DKM/ DLKM / DVM with at least a CGPA 2.00 AND have at least two (2) years of work experience in the relevant field. The candidate must also attend bridging courses.

APEL

Entry requirements for admission into the Bachelor’s programme through Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) as approved by the Ministry of Education (MOHE).
For International Students Only Minimum score of 5.0 in IELTS or 500 in TOEFL or its equivalent.
